About Balcony Solar Atlas

Balcony Solar Atlas is an independent reference for plug-in solar in the United States. We started it in 2026, when state after state began legalizing balcony solar and renters were left piecing together answers from news stories, manufacturer blogs and forum threads that often disagreed.

We focus on three questions people actually have: is it allowed where I live, is it safe in my home, and is it worth the money. Every page aims to answer one of those directly, with the source one click away.

What we are not

• We are not lawyers or electricians. Our pages summarize public law and engineering guidance; they do not replace your utility, your lease or a licensed professional.
• We do not sell solar kits, and no manufacturer pays for placement. If we add affiliate links in the future, we will label them on every page where they appear, and they will not change what we recommend.
